"Should fascism come to power, it will ride over your skulls and spines like a terrific tank." ~Leon Trotsky
Fascism doesn't believe in democracy. The idea of you having a choice of who your leader is, is counter to the structure of Fascism. . The German communist party in the 1930s mistakenly thought that if Hitler came to power that his actions would be so abhorrent to the population that his reign would be short lived. They falsely believed that the Germany's rejection of Hitler's Nazis would open the door for a communist Germany. Trotsky said the quote above in opposition of that idea. He cajoled his far left comrades to make alliances with the social democrats of Germany to insure Hitler wouldn't rise to power. It caused a schism in the German communist party with some of his fellow communists allying themselves closely with Hitler. A mistake, since Hitler ended up blaming the burning down of the German parliament building the Reichstag on the Communists, and after consolidating dictatorial power had them killed. . "Should fascism come to power, it will ride over your skulls and spines like a terrific tank."
