The idea that a sitting President of the United States can’t be indicted is simply illogical. Think of this. What if a candidate for President committed felonies as a means to attain the Presidency? And what if the now President committed felonies in order to retain the Presidency? This is the very thing that we are talking about for Donald J. Trump.
A President who has stolen the position of President by illegal means could not be rewarded the protection of prosecutorial immunity by the very object that was the fruit of his or hers larceny. We don’t let olympians keep their medals when they have cheated to gain them. We also prosecute them for any illegal activity they may have committed that aided them to achieve those medals, whether that be steroid use, cheating drug test and lying to sporting authorities. Most of the time the prosecution comes first. We also don’t let thieves keep their stolen goods, and they are typically prosecuted for their crimes.
We shouldn’t allow a President to be free from prosecution for illegalities, particularly a President that has used illegal means to attain or retain (through obstruction of justice) his or her position. It just wouldn't make any sense.
