So after my last diary that made some people think I’m a Bernie supporter, now here’s one that’s gonna make people think I’m a Hillary supporter.
So... there’s this diary currently on the rec list that says MSNBC didn’t show any of Bernie’s speech from yesterday. Here’s the thing. I actually recorded MSNBC yesterday afternoon, as I was at the UCLA basketball game watching a gut-wrenching loss to Oregon State (argh!!!). I’m enough of a political junkie that I didn’t want to miss anything.
And guess what I found while watching what I had recorded yesterday?
So, I’m watching the coverage I recorded earlier. And per my DVR’s clock, from 4:13pm to 4:17pm Pacific time (so 7:13pm to 7:17pm on the East coast), Chris Matthews interrupted his guest Bill de Blasio to show Bernie’s speech live. A few hours later, from 6:11pm to 6:16pm Pacific time (so again, 9:11pm to 9:16pm for you East coasters), he showed a part of Hillary’s speech live. And that was after they cut into part of Ted Cruz’s speech, which they played from 6:09pm to 6:11pm Pacific time (9:09pm to 9:11pm East coast time).
Of the candidates that won states tonight, Cruz got the shortest shrift. What’s sad on our part is that I think I saw only 1 or 2 others in that diary actually mention that Bernie’s speech was shown live by MSNBC, for about one minute less than how much Hillary’s speech was shown live. Again, this is supposed to be the reality-based community, not the make-facts-up-as-you-go-along community.
Yes, we should complain to MSNBC that they gave the buffoon Trump carte blanche on his victory speech/press conference. But it’s simply not true that MSNBC didn’t show any of Bernie’s speech. And if you want to complain that Hillary got about 60 more seconds than Bernie did, go right ahead. Heh, they still both got more time than Cruz did.
And then I saw comments from people who had written to MSNBC complaining that they didn’t show any of Bernie’s speech. That’s a great way for them not to take you seriously, knowing you hadn’t actually watched their coverage.
You know what y’all need? Y’all need to watch this clip. Focus on this excellent commentary from Trevor Noah about the insidious lie from Trump surrogate Jeffrey Lord about the KKK and Democrats.
This is the money quote.
Just because something used to be something doesn’t mean it still is. What matters more is what it is now. My shit used to be pizza, but if I came to you today and said, “Hey, would you like some pizza?” you’d be like, “No, that’s shit!” And I’d be like, “Uh, if you knew your history, you’d know that this is a pepperoni slice.” Don’t feed me shit and call it pizza.
Share it on Facebook and other social media as well. Make this video go even more viral, just to shut up that stupid, stupid, stupid “KKK=Democrats” crap I keep seeing. Yeah, like those “Democrats” voted for Obama twice or something? The YouTube clip has about 221,000 views right now. That should have more like 242,000,000 views, one for every American adult, because they need to see this.
This is the real enemy we’re facing.
UPDATE: I see I’m being threatened for being reported to the moderators for lying. Look, HE DID NOT GIVE MORE THAN ONE VICTORY SPEECH!
The victory speech, of which you can see the entire thing on C-SPAN, WAS the one that took place in the 4pm PT/7pm ET hour. There was no “second” victory speech that seems to exist. This is the one he gave in Warren, Michigan, at Macomb Community College. If you watch the beginning of the C-SPAN clip, they say they’re airing the speech that occurred earlier. Which means C-SPAN didn’t broadcast it live. So if you thought you saw him speaking at 7pm PT/10pm ET on C-SPAN, that was almost certainly a rebroadcast of the same speech he gave earlier that day. The Ted Cruz speech MSNBC aired a few minutes of was also not done live, but recorded earlier.
Here’s what happened. I just reviewed the videotape AGAIN. At 10:02pm ET, Chris went to Kristen Welker in Flint, Michigan, where she’s covering the Clinton campaign. As she spoke, MSNBC used a split screen to show the EARLIER speech Bernie gave that evening. It was NOT a second speech. I can see the same people behind Bernie (especially the fist-pumping bearded guy), and trust me, they were NOT sitting there for ANOTHER 3 hours after hearing him speak!!!
If you thought that was a NEW speech he was giving LIVE, I’m sorry, you were mistaken. It was a pre-recording.
The rest of the hour, the split screen was of the room waiting for Trump to enter in Florida.
